There's a certain feeling when you're observing the weather and suddenly sense that it's the perfect time to be in the ideal spot. The Jacob storm, quite unexpectedly, created extraordinary conditions along the north coast for several days. With 70 centimeters (27 inches) of fresh snow blanketing the shore and even greater amounts accumulating at higher elevations, it was a remarkable event.
The snow only lasted two days before a heavy thaw and gale winds ensured that every inch of the white blanket was gone, leaving nothing behind. Nevertheless, a new winter has arrived, and so have we. Here's to hoping for a wonderful winter for everyone!
